COVID 19 Appeal
The community of Chatsworth and surrounding districts form mainly lower to middle income sector, and with poverty on the increase. Alcoholism and drugs are also a major scurge against the community. Keeping the Islamic values of social welfare in mind, the Qadri Razvi Center is a beacon of commitment to help the needy wherever possible. Our philosophy is to help whoever we can regardless of race, color or religion.
We have a weekly feeding since 2007, and annual zakah distribution program since 2012.
Free skills development to the community forms part of our social upliftment initiative which includes training on industrial sewing equipment, Computer literacy and software training.
We hope that we will be able to offer a free drug rehabilitation center in the future as well as a free medical clinic.
Unfortunately COVID 19 and extended lock-downs had called on us to downsize many of our social welfare activities, mostly due to financial constraints. We would like to appeal to everyone who is sympathetic to our cause to contact us to assist by way of volunteering and/or donations or even a kind word of encouragment. Please contact us for information on how you can get involved.
Zakah Distribution
The Qadri razvi center had embarked on a Zakah distribution program since 2012
The Centre has invested in creation of a database of close to 1000 beneficiaries. All beneficiaries are recorded and filtered, after being interviewed. We have adopted the use of cellphone technology to communicate with our beneficiaries.
This proved advantageous under lockdown conditions when the Centre was able to co-ordinate and safely assist beneficiaries. Beneficiaries also received assistance soon after the disasterous floods of April 2022
We hope to grow this project year on year.
Beneficiaries of this program are also invited to our skills development in an effort to grow them out of Zakah.
We would like to invite all people interested in participating to contact us for more information. Contact us
Feeding
While hunger not a new phenomenon, the last few years of economic turmoil have worsened matters for the poor in South Africa. As unemployment has soared the ranks of the poor have swelled in alarming proportions.
As Muslims in this South Africa, it is our duty to contribute to solve this problem.
We have adopted feeding into our philosophy and endeavour to do our part with a feeding initiative. We have run weekly feeding for 180-200 and in Ramadaan Daily Iftaar Dinner for 80 people on average is provided. We distribute approximately 1500 hot meals, fruit and sweets on Eid ul Fitr.
Haleem is also distributed every weekend of Ramadaan.
Our feeding projects are open to all and no Zakah is utilised in any of it.
